I am Ville Syri, a Swedish/Finnish musician that plays traditional Nordic music on fiddle.Playing music has always been my safe haven, where I go to recollect what’s left after a day. Discovering that I am depressed, going in therapy and taking meds has made my safe haven into my happy place. What I want to present to you is my happy place of playing and being my true self. My healing process has been a journey in the community of the folk scene, playing music, teaching music and dancing folk dance.

I grew up in the Swedish folk community and I have Finnish roots. It’s interesting that if you learn a popular tune you can play it all around at festivals and on jams. I usually jam all night until I get kicked out of the place. I studied at Malmö music academy and went on an exchange where I met my friend Tommy with whom I have the duo Ville and Tommie with. We made an album that is called Stuffed Pockets.
