Alison Luthmers, Baroque Violin
Canadian-American violinist Alison Luthmers explores a
wide range of repertoire on period instruments. Increasingly in demand as a leader and soloist, she performs throughout Europe and beyond with ensembles such as Concerto Copenhagen (Denmark), Camerata Øresund, (Denmark), Barokksolistene (Norway), Göteborg Baroque (Sweden) and Nivalis Barokk (Norway).
She is a founding member of the Bellevue String Quartet and creator of BookJam, a series of informal chamber music concerts at a bookstore in Malmö.
Alison is a two-time recipient of a grant from the Canada Council for the Arts for her study of the connection between folk music, early music and dance in Scandinavia.
Current solo projects include performing and recording the Swedish Baroque composer Johan Helmich Roman’s Assaggi for Solo Violin. Other than making music, she enjoys reading, gardening, hiking
and playing with her young son and daughter.
