ALBUM RELEASE 20TH APRIL!
On The Onion's Core saxophonist Ida Karlsson has done some soul-searching, revealing a dismissal of excess and a return to her familial roots.
Ida's composing has resulted in eight rather distinctive jazz pieces. In one piece, traces of gospel hymns can be found; another harks back to traditional Swedish folk; while still other pieces maintain a more subtle complexity. "Baking" is a blues piece inspired by Swedish folk music and Jimmy Giuffre. "Popish" is a five-stroke play off of pop music and jazz harmonies.
The quartet IDKA JAZZ was founded in Malmö, Sweden in the spring of 2017.
Impressionist and dissonant. Melodic and dynamic. Expressive and playful. Fanny Gunnarsson Quartet lets different components reflects and shines through each other to create music that touches you and at the same time makes you want to move along.
This fall We Float won the Swedish Public Radio’s Jazz Award in the category “Group of the Year” and released their second album named “What’s Really Real?”. The meeting evolves into an outgoing groove jazz where the focus is on rhythms, moods, melodies and communication. The group is performing original compositions, where loops and samples are adding up to the organic sound.
The Gang is tight and energetic and offers wonderful Afro grooves with jazzy improvisations that make it lively, emotional and danceable.
